The Story so far…About 15 years ago, a small group of renegade golfers trekked the local golfing landscape, challenging public golf courses with gusto. After their round these weekend warriors (over a cold ale or two) would talk golf and it became apparent that a void existed in the golf magazine market for their kind. One of the group, Garry Kennedy, proclaimed to all and sundry that his new full time profession would be in publishing, as editor-in-chief of a brave, new, unpretentious golfing magazine. A few more beers later and Australia’s newest golfing title - HACKER Magazine - was born. Today, after more than 50 editions, Hacker presents itself as the green fee golfer’s literature champion. Written by hackers, for hackers, the magazine isn’t aimed at nancy, checked pant wearing private club buffoons. It’s aimed at the grass roots golfer. For the bloke (or chick) that likes to hit it hard! They don’t mind playing early, in the rain, without a raincoat – and they don’t waddle around the course looking like a four iron has been shoved up their butt. If you seriously enjoy your golf, if you seriously enjoy a laugh and if you don’t take the game too seriously – then Hacker Magazine is a must! In each edition you’ll find Feature Stories, Golf Course Destinations and Reviews and Regular Articles. |
Read about Allenby’s Major Dilemma, Golfing Royalty – Melbourne’s Sandbelt, 2009 Hacker Cup entry details, Australia’s Top 100 public access courses, Cape Schanck Course Review, Mitiamo Course Review, Capital Golf – The ACT courses, Great golfing Trips Volume 1 – Alexandra and more…
